Presentation:
Coordinating the Symposium: “Ensuring Privacy
and Confidentiality of Information
Gathered and Stored”
“Developing a Warning, Alert and Advisory
Reporting Point (WARP): Protecting the
Public Against Cyber-Crime”
Security is everyone's business and a process
that requires continuous adjustments and vigilance.
CASES (Cyberworld Awareness and Security Enhancement
Structure) is a transnational effort for data
and information sharing amongst European Union
(EU) Member States to exchange information related
to computer attacks as well as raising awareness
while permitting benchmarking of these efforts
as well. Geographical regions and cities can participate
by building WARPs that serve particular groups
of citizens (e.g., the elderly) and a city’s
administration. WARPs provide city employees and
citizens with faster and easier access to IT security
related know-how and this should again trigger
an awareness process. They also facilitate continuous
improvement, thereby supporting efforts to increase
trust and confidence in e-health and e-government
efforts including e-democracy. An example with
the necessary efforts needed for collaboration,
amongst telecities and CASES is presented. Helping
cities with their WARP efforts and facilitating
partnering with other telecities and CASES is
the primary objective of this presentation.
