Project 1: “Sicurnet: a knowledge network on secure communications and services”
The Information Society’s new technologies allow to achieve more and moresophisticated network services, with considerable added value. These services have to be easily accessible to everybody, whenever and wherever the user will be. In these conditions, Network Security becomes an essential issue for the growth and the diffusion of this kind of services. SICURNET project, financed by the European Union and Regione Toscana, fits this requirements with a national-relevant initiative based on a cooperation between scientific community, technology producer companies/services providers and entrepreneurial associations. Indeed, besides the organization of a high specialization master in order to create - now missing - professional figures, SICURNET foresees the achievement of a knowledge network between Universities, Research centres, public agencies (municipalities and districts) and companies interested in the issues about technologies and network secure services. These elements are essential for the growth and the innovation of the social and productive system set in a territory, being indeed the core of systems as e commerce, egovernment and other network activities. Tuscany is leader in these fields, thank to its Universities’ efficient structure, its technologically–advanced enterprises, its important financial institutions and public agencies interested in developing evolved applications. By creating a knowledge and cooperation “community” in a quick-growth and international-relevance field, the knowledge network will offer significant advantage to every small/medium company, to the handicraft and to the tourism industry. Network secure application will be made easier thank to the creation of a formative/informative system available for everybody even by advanced methodologies like TRIO and FAD (by University di Siena). The knowledge network will be set by the partners composing the SICURNET project (Eurobic Toscana Sud S.p.A., APIT Innovazione S.r.l., Getronics S.p.A., Marconi-AMTEC S.p.A., Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena S.p.A. and University of Siena) but even other Universities and national research centres (Italians and not) and international-relevance companies.
