EMILIO PUCCI
27th June - 9th September 2007
The fifty years of the Palio collection, presented by Emilio Pucci with great success at the fashion shows in the “sala Bianca” (white hall) of Palazzo Pitti, recur in the spring of 2007. The costumes of the Contrade, whose colours and heraldic patterns were sources of inspiration for silk scarves and shirts, became the cue to refashion modern designs and century-old compositions in various versions and models, thanks to a venture which, differently from the many modern “reappraisals”, certainly more commercial, was of a deep understanding and syntony of taste, of a perfect mixture of elements. Witness of this itinerary are the drawings, sketches, the colour testing, the countless prints, but most of all, the models and the clothes which will be displayed and which earned Emilio Pucci not only his “Neimann-Marcus Award” (a Fashion Oscar) in that year but also an international success still enjoyed today. In order to illustrate this fashion style itinerary, various fabrics will be selected from amongst those kept in the Emilio Pucci Archives, (period photographs, sketches, original drawings, colour testing, fabrics, dresses, costumes, silk scarves, documents) to later put them together in relation to the original source of inspiration, that is, the Palio, the Contrade, Siena and its cultural and, most of all, stylistic and visual fascination.
